Oh knickers, I've just read that the Sims 3 will be delayed. I've been looking forward to it with mixed feeling anyway. Some parts of it really don't appeal to me - clothes which are less customisable for example. Who wants to have shorts that match your sofa? I prefer the Sims 2 way where everything is available to texture. I can happily while away an afternoon creating textures. And there are no elf ears available and apparently the make up options look like a toddler let loose with a set of crayons. Some more info here: www.parsimonious.org/rev/index…
Anyway, despite these failings my curiosity is piqued and I am looking forward to trying the new game - but with just a month to go it's been delayed. How long for is unknown at present. It would be nice to know it was because they are addressing these issues; but I rather suspect it is for general buggy-ness. I really hope it doesn't go the same way Sim Societies did; in trying to make it appeal to new markets they lost the ones they had. Sims 3 is intended to also be aimed at the hardcore gamers, I hope they don't forget about the micro-managers like myself that love to fully personalise their Sims as much as possible. It sounds like they've got the internal parts right, lets hope the rest follows.
Anyway, forgive the slight rant; the original Sims were the reason I bought my first computer - I love those little peeps and I keenly follow their evolution.
I really need to update my journal style.
