From the title you might guess that it's been a while since I've updated this. Just under 10 years - when I procrastinate; I don't do half measures!

It's been an eventful 10 years, I work for an American company in the Netherlands and I commute, so I have a lot less free time for art. I want to make more time for it this year and complete something each week - however small or big the project might be. So I should be a bit more active here, but let's see.

Hope you're all doing well - wishing you a wonderfilled 2020 xxx

I knew I'd been dragging my feet on updating here, but when I saw it had almost been a year I decided it was time. :giggle: I've not felt much interest in DA for a long time really, nor in art so much aside from a few pieces here and there. The burning desire to create has become buried under other life things.

I made it to Holland, complete with indignant cats and a truckload of life collected debris back in November. I've adjusted well for the most part, it's lovely to finally live with my boyfriend, having a lovely house, a job that doesn't push me over the edge on a daily basis and to be away from the smell and noise of London. I'd be a liar though if I said that I didn't miss London at times, I knew that coming to a little village after living in Soho would be a big jump and it is. No Starshmucks coffee across the road, no China Town, no pizza delivery, no wonderful shops and worst of all.... no pubs! Wandering over to the Coach & Horses on a hot Friday after work for a large glass of chilled Chardonnay is seriously missed. We intend to go back to visit in October, so I shall do my best to catch up! (Note to self: pack trousers with elasticated waist...)

I'm learning dutch via Rosetta Stone ( expensive but fab!)and have found that I am understanding more and more of what people say, I'm still a chicken when it comes to stringing responses together, but I am improving. I work at the shop part-time and have a good grasp of the admin side of things, I've not been let loose on the customers though and I think that's best for all concerned!

So that's all about me... well, not all, but all I can think of now. I really hope my muse comes back and nudges me back into making pretties more and being more active here.

Hope you're all fine and dandy. :cuddle:

Toodle-pip for now.

Hello peoples and a welcome to any new watchers that are taking a peek.

It's been a funny old month, mostly because I am slowly coming around to the idea that I will be leaving my home, country and job of 14 years to move to Holland. Moving from Central London to a village with a populace of just over 2000 will be quite a change of scenery. I'm hoping I'll cope all right, I am very much looking forward to finally living with my boyfriend and having a home together though :)

The adjustments are huge however and much of my time when I move will be spent learning dutch and working in the family shop on a part-time basis. It will be different from managing a business in the way I am now - but after 14 years of working for this company; I am more than ready for a change.

So I have two and a half months left of London, time to start working on my list of things I love doing to cram in before I leave; eat mussels at Belgo, see Coldplay at Wembley, go to Westminster Abbey & the Tower of London, see the changing of the guards, have drinks in an outdoor bar in Canary Wharf, eat at and be verbally abused by staff at Won Kei... Have a picnic on Hamstead Heath... Oh so much to do. :faint:

I also wanted to say a few words about my DD for Forest Winds - thanks so much Jo, it's my first DD and very dear to my heart. Many many thanks to all the people who commented (soz - still to reply to some) and faved and watched me as a result. I was blown away by the nice comments.

There were a couple of duds there though, purist modelers, people who didn't like the clothing on my dryad (because they have first hand knowledge of what dryads wear presumably?) And one today who was just spamming hate mail on anything they came across that offended them, (I felt inclined to check their recent activity.) It's the first (and I hope last) time I've ever reported harassment. My art was positively Disney-esque compared to the other stuff they were commenting on. Bizarre.

Oh - and sorry for the lack of art. I think my muse did a bunk to the south of France. I'm downloading Poser 8 now though and the new TerraDome thingy from RDNA, so am hoping for a little artistic enthusiasm to start creeping up on me ;)

Anyway - peace and fairy dust to you guys and gals. Hope you're having a good Summer xxx

Cripes, it's been a while, eh?

Well, what news ... Hmm, I have a swishy new PC that renders things the old one steadfastly ignored, so I've been enjoying experimenting. Not so much liking all the downloads I need to do etc though or the issues with Vista compatibility. Ah well. I've also finally got my Sims 3 game and have emersed myself in Riverview and Sunset Valley. My current family have no jobs, two kids and are struggling to support themselves just by painting and writing. Was surprised that they have managed to be honest, then I saw that Alice and Kev homeless sim experiment blog (take a peek at it - it's a compulsive, if a little brain numbing read,) and realised mine have it pretty easy. Slackers.

Personally, I have embarked on a health campaign over the last few months and have managed to shed some weight and force myself to do 30 mins of cardio most mornings. I do it in the morning because it's before my brain has worked out what it's putting the body through and has a chance to rebel.

Anyone from the Elizabeth Haydon Cauldron (Niewen, Anwyn, maybe a few others?) who goes looking for it will see it is gawn. A free replacement service is currently operating here: cauldron.freeforums.org/

Well, I should get back to work. It's a sweltering day in London and we are overdue for a storm (I can feel it in my scalp) and the traffic today is only punctuated by loud Michael Jackson music being blared from car radios. Poor chap. Strange day.

Later amigos!

Oh knickers, I've just read that the Sims 3 will be delayed. I've been looking forward to it with mixed feeling anyway. Some parts of it really don't appeal to me - clothes which are less customisable for example. Who wants to have shorts that match your sofa? I prefer the Sims 2 way where everything is available to texture. I can happily while away an afternoon creating textures. And there are no elf ears available and apparently the make up options look like a toddler let loose with a set of crayons. Some more info here:  www.parsimonious.org/rev/index…

Anyway, despite these failings my curiosity is piqued and I am looking forward to trying the new game - but with just a month to go it's been delayed. How long for is unknown at present. It would be nice to know it was because they are addressing these issues; but I rather suspect it is for general buggy-ness. I really hope it doesn't go the same way Sim Societies did; in trying to make it appeal to new markets they lost the ones they had. Sims 3 is intended to also be aimed at the hardcore gamers, I hope they don't forget about the micro-managers like myself that love to fully personalise their Sims as much as possible. It sounds like they've got the internal parts right, lets hope the rest follows.

Anyway, forgive the slight rant; the original Sims were the reason I bought my first computer - I love those little peeps and I keenly follow their evolution. :D

I really need to update my journal style. :o
